This is a consideration if there are multiple players spread out geographically. You can extend this to any number of secondary switches provided they're not all playing at the same time. Additionally, digital allows up to 2 players to play the game at once- one on the main switch and one on a secondary switch.
Physical obviously you have to take it with you. provided you have internet connection on the secondary switch. If there's a switch for home and a switch for away, digital allows you to buy once and play on both. If there's multiple switches in the equation then the dynamic changes. So I have a really hard time justifying paying this much for physical if you can get it for $14-16. Also keep in mind the gold edition includes the $20 DLC, physical not so much.
The gift and physical aspect is nice, the question is whether it's worth the extra $$.
